"Girl with Balloon" is a famous 2006 work by the street artist Banksy featuring a young girl reaching for a red heart-shaped balloon floating away. Friday 12 till Monday 15 November 2021

Rave has been living for a week and a half in Carrer de la Barra de Ferro 4, El Born district. She has also just started a new job. 

Friday: Fly with Transavia from Rotterdam to El Prat. Easy aerobus to Hotel Rondo near Placa Universitat. Rave met there after work, had a tasty paella at an outdoor bistro and walked through town to her new apartment. In the evening had a beer at a jazz cafe around the corner with live music.

Saturday: Walked to El Born, walked with Rave along Barcelonetta and harbor to the sea, back to El Born something to eat and then a city bus to Gracia to watch the sun set at 'the bunkers' on top of the mountain with a beautiful view over Barcelona, wine with it. From there we walked all the way down through Gracia. In Gracia, on a square where we ate some tapas, a neighborhood party with drums, devils and fireworks was experienced.

Sunday: With sore legs from walking yesterday, first explored El Born (didn't experience it in the old Cathedral, Moco museum). Rave was a little bit ill and also had a few online Dutch lessons. Later in the afternoon we visited a museum across the street from her with beautiful modern art. Afterwards we ate delicious tapas on a square near the old church. On the way to my hotel lingered at a pub on my corner.

Monday: Half overslept with Aerobus to airport, from T1 to Terminal 2 with free bus, I was glad I was on time. Back home early in the evening.

Holidays 2021 in Italy

30 August - 16 September 2021

We made our first night in Heidelberg Germany. We were blown away, next to the large camperparkplatz a nice band was playing outside and we could also order delicious pizza, beer ... wow, that started well. Second overnight stay at Immenstaad am Bodensee, beautiful campsite with castle, but it continued to rain the next week so decided to travel through the Swiss mountains to Italy the next day.

Tired, we couldn't find a place at a campsite near Lake Iseo and we parked the camper in a designated parking space on the edge of a village in the middle of the secluded square. Soon more holidaymakers joined us and so we meet a friendly German couple with a Jeep with a hip roof tent and electric bikes, Kalli and Sas. The next morning together we searched further for another small lake Lago d'Idra and went there together. And we had beautiful weather here 20-25 degrees and lots of sun! Lake Idra is an idyllic 'small' blue lake surrounded by green mountains and this area is not as commercial as Lake Garda.

At the Vantone Pineta campsite we were allocated a beautiful spot next to each other, completely beautiful and fun, we did not want to leave. We also had a lot of fun with our new friends and we BBQed, fished, drank coffee together several times. Kalli (Karl Heinz) is a real technician, spoke good English and we had many things in common, Sas is a lab technician and still in her early twenties.

We enjoyed about 10 days here, a beautiful nice campsite on the lake, nice villages, beautiful surroundings and nice weather. On Sunday we were able to experience the GP Zandvoort online, we didn't want to miss Max.
We also had the scooter on the back of the camper. You do wear a helmet everywhere in Europe, but it is very easy to do errands in the village or to explore the area. Also nice that he drives 65 km/h with a remote control, he drove up the mountain even with the two of you on it!

The last weekend we went to Vienna to a campsite on the Danube. On the way back we made an overnight stay in Germany somewhere completely afterwards.

We enjoyed this holiday extensively with the camper, wonderfully comfortable with all modern conveniences and it also drives excellently on long distances and through the mountains. The same place again next year, please?
