Met collega de EuroTier in Hannover bezocht, dit is de toonaangevende vakbeurs voor de dierlijke productie. Alleen al voor poultry waren er 3 grote hallen vol met stands voor stalinrichting en broederijen.

De Israëlische zangeres Noa wordt vergeleken met Barbra Streisand, Joan Baez en Nana Mouskouri. Geen kleine namen, maar Noa beschikt dan ook over een groot en oorspronkelijk talent en weet met haar even warme als heldere stem iedereen te raken. Genres of talen vormen geen belemmering: Noa bestrijkt blues, pop en jazz en zingt daarbij net zo makkelijk in het Engels, Hebreeuws, Arabisch, Frans of Spaans. The Heartbreaking Final Letter That Leonard Cohen Sent To His Muse Marianne Ihlen:

Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen (wiki) predicted his own death in a heartbreaking goodbye letter to his ex-love Marianne Ihlen.
Cohen and Ihlen met in Greece in the 1960s. She had recently been left by her husband, who took off and left both her and their six-month-old son alone in Greece. Cohen invited them to live with him in Montreal and Ihlem accepted the offer. They quickly became a couple and their romantic relationship lasted for a decade. The woman inspired the musician to write such songs as “So Long, Marianne”, “Bird on a Wire”, and others.

When Ihlen’s friend Jan Christian Mollestad contacted Cohen to tell him that she was dying from leukemia and had only a couple days to live “it took only two hours and in came this beautiful letter from Leonard to Marianne.”

The beautiful reply:
“We brought this letter in to her the next day and she was fully conscious and she was so happy that he had already written something for her,” Mollestad told Canada’s CBC radio.
When he read the line “stretch out your hand”, Ihlen had stretched out her hand. “Only two days after, she lost consciousness and slipped into death. And when she died, I wrote a letter back to him saying in her final moments I hummed A Bird on the Wire because that was the song she felt closest to.” Now, after Cohen’s passing, the story from last August is even more poignant.

Een dagje naar London per ferry, Treinreiswinkel.

Complete  NS trip vanaf Hoek van Holland, 's avonds gaan, binnenhut op de ferry, volgende morgen vanaf 9u00 in Londen tot 19u30, voor €65 boek je er een nachtje bij (**-hotel), de volgende dag ben je in de morgen weer terug.


Camden is één van hipste buurten van Londen, (Amy Winehouse, 30 Camden Square). Je vindt er dagelijks een grote markt, die bestaat uit zes aan elkaar grenzende markten. Op deze markt zie je voornamelijk vintage en alternatieve kleding. Ook vind je gezellige pubs en eettentjes in Camden.

Tate Modern is het best bezochte moderne kunstmuseum ter wereld. De vaste collectie is gratis te bekijken, voor de wisselende tentoonstellingen moet je entree betalen. Het museum is zeven verdiepingen hoog en ligt tegenover St. Paul's Cathedral, aan de oever van de Thames. Via de beroemde Millennium Bridge kom je er.

Mijn weekendje London: 
's Avonds met de trein naar Hoek van Holland en vandaar met de nacht-ferry, na wat drankjes en rokertjes op het dek, een hippe Skullcandy koptelefoon gekocht en met een lekker muziekje een korte nacht doorgebracht in een gezellig hutje met stapelbedden en douche/toilet. Natuurluk verslapen (klok een uur vooruit) en door man met geel hesje gewekt, vanaf Harwich met vervangende bussen een uurtje later midden in London, bij Liverpool station. Daar de metro genomen naar Camden waar k wat heb rondgeleut en Rave at noon ontmoet, samen uitgebreid geluncht en bijgekletst, de gezellig drukke markten van Camden doorgeworsteld, het was zaterdag. Gewandeld in het zonnetje door Camden naar een parkje waar Amy had gewoond en 's avonds bij een modern Indiaas restaurantje gegeten. Rave daarna met metro/trein terug naar YMCA in Wattford een uurtje hogerop. Ik heb verder het centrum doorgewandeld en in plaatselijke cafe's grote glazen bier gedronken. Terug naar het Colombia hotel waar ik een gek hoog, lang en super smal kamertjes met eenpersoonsbed en trap in de kamer naar een gerieflijke badkamer, uitzicht op een 2m breed blind steegje met enkele duiven als gezelschap maakte me weer zo'n absurde ervaring rijker.

Zondagmorgen vroeg na t onbijtje een superlange wandeling door de parken gemaakt in een heerlijk vroeg ochtend zonnetje. Gelukkig nu zeer weinig bagage en in de stad een simpele London-schoudertas gekocht voor 10 pond. Metro genomen richting Tate galery modern art, verder gewandeld en onder de bruggen door een farmers market gewandeld. In het grote Tate gebouw langs de Thames

heb me kosteluk verwonderd over een installatie in een grote hal waar je liggend op vloerbedekking met wel 100 andere mensen en kinderen naar bewegend opgehangen panelen kon staren waarbij er een wisselend abstract landschap ontstond, uitermate cool en relaxt. Later geluncht en andere video performances in het gebouw bezocht. Daarna over de voetgangersbrug over de Thames de stad ingelopen langs verschillende monumentale gebouwen en daarna alvast richting Liverpool station waar om half acht de bus naar Harwich vertrok. Op de ferry al snel het hutje opgezocht en heerluk gepit, een uur langer nu en ik was rond 10-11 uur waar in Maarssen.

2014 is the year that Holland is being quickly introduced to psychedelic rock band PAUW. With just a few home recorded demo?s, the band takes part in the travelling festival Popronde. With 38 bookings the group becomes the most demanded band in the history of the traveling festival. The four piece plays support shows for Temples, Elephant Stone and Kasabian. While being in the spotlight, they manage to record their debut EP with producer Roel Blommers. The EP is very positively received by critics around the country and single 'Shambhala' is being crowned 'Single Of The Week' by dutch music platform 3voor12 and Pinguin Radio.

The following year seems to become a promising one for PAUW. While playing a lot of shows, e.g. Noorderslag, Where The Wild Things Are, Paaspop, Dauwpop and London Calling, the band is building a strong reputation in their home country. Their first sold-out clubtour is a fact, and above all that their music is played live more than once on radio stations like 3FM and 3voor12 Radio. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hubble telescope, the song 'Visions' is written and performed live on Dutch TV show De Wereld Draait Door and in July released as an official single. The single made it also to 'Single Of The Week' by 3voor12 and Pinguin Radio.
Promoters outside the Netherlands start to discover PAUW as well and the band will play Liverpool Psych Fest (UK), VOID Fest (Germany), Celebration Day (France), Lisbon Psych Fest (Portugal) and several festivals in Belgium including Deep In The Woods and PLAY. They wrap up their festival summer at Lowlands Festival, Into The Great Wide Open. And with an exteded headlining clubtour in the fall ahead of them in the Netherlands, the four friends are showing themselves a lot. And if that's not enough, they even find time to record their first album, which is produced again by Roel Blommers. The album will be released the autumn, the next chapter in an already exciting year for PAUW.

With a savage drummer, a bombastic bassist, a mesmerizing keyboardist and a charismatic guitarist with dreamy vocals, PAUW takes you on a magical and unforgettable trip that will remain with many for a long time.
