Ohm's Law - The basis for all electronics and electrical calculations is Ohm's Law (I=V/R). If you remember this, you can figure out what size resistor to pair with an LED, how to control the speed of a motor, how to build a power supply, and more. It's that important. There are three main variables in electricity, (I) current (amps), (V) voltage (volts) and (R) resistance (ohms). There's also a 4th element, (P) power (watts). Ohm's Law says that if you know two variables, you can calculate the third. - Online Calculator

Power vs. Energy - DC Watts = volts * amps is important, especially in solar and battery calculations, and the time element, hours, is critical. A motor that draws 5 amps, is drawing 5 amps (power) as we speak. In one hour, it will have consumed 5 amp hours (ah)(energy), in two hours it will have consumed 10 ah. When multiplied by the voltage we get watt hours (wh). This (wh) is called Energy. Energy is what you get billed for by the Power company (kWh). Watts without time is called Power. Many people get this confused, and some websites deliberately muddy the waters to make their products sound better. If you see things like amps per hour, or watts per day, run away.

Not to confuse things too much, but in Alternating Current (AC), it's not quite this easy. It starts out the same, Watts = Volts * Amps, but we also have to divide the Power Factor. A resistive load, like a heater, has a power factor of 1, so 1200w / 120v = 10a / 1 = 10a is the same as the DC calculation. But a electric motor, computer or fluorescent light may have a power factor of .5, so 1200w / 120v = 10a / .5 = 20a. That's a much higher load, so wires and generating capacity have to be increased. We often use VA for some calculations instead of watts. You'll see transformers rated in VA, as the load power factor isn't known by the manufacturer.

Groene Pesto maken

"Groene Pesto alla Genovese" - ingrediënten voor ca. 200 gram:

Massage cursus

Vanavond ga ik een proefles massage volgen bij Luna in Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht van Trudy Middelham.

In acht lessen leer je de basistechnieken van de klassieke massage, zoals strijken en kneden. Elke avond masseren we een deel van het lichaam. Tijdens de cursus werken we in tweetallen op massagetafels, zowel als gever als ontvanger. Behalve het aanleren van de massagegrepen besteden we aandacht aan de sfeer en de zorgzaamheid tijdens het masseren. Daarnaast is er aandacht voor lichaamshouding, ademhaling en praktische aanwijzingen zoals gebruik van olie. Je ontvangt een duidelijke handleiding, zodat je thuis verder kunt oefenen. Aan het eind van de cursus heb je voldoende kennis en ervaring om iemand een volledige massage te geven. Je oefent op een mede cursist, je hoeft dus geen proefpersoon mee te nemen. Het is ook mogelijk om met iemand samen te komen en op elkaar te oefenen. Uiteraard betaal je dan beide voor de cursus. Aan het eind van de cursus ontvang je een certificaat van deelname.

Massage olie zelf maken

Basis olie:
Zonnebloemolie: Goedkoop en geschikt voor alle huidtypen,in het bijzonder de wat vettige huid. Het wordt redelijk snel opgenomen door de huid en heeft een relatief neutrale geur en textuur.
Amandel olie : Een zoete, niet drogende en verzachtende olie die geschikt is voor ieder huidtype, maar vooral voor de droge en/of gevoelige huid een weldaad is. Reguleert het vochtgehalte van de huid en vermindert huidirritaties. Dermatose, zonnebrand, schaafwonden, jeuk, rimpels, schilferende (hoofd)huid, babyhuid.
Aloe vera olie : Voor droge, gevoelige of schilferige huid, versterkt de afweer.
Jojoba olie : Geschikt voor alle huidtypen maar vooral voor een vette (of acne) huid, psoriasis, eczeem, littekens en ontstekingen. Wordt snel opgenomen door de huid. De neutrale geur en wat stroperige substantie maken het een veel gekozen olie voor in massageproducten.
Perzikpit olie : (of Abrikozenpitolie) De olie wordt snel opgenomen door de huid en heeft een opvallend lichte textuur en milde geur. Geschikt voor de gevoelige, droge en rijpere huid, ook geschikt voor babyhuid.

Etherische olie:
Lavendel
Aloe Vera
Kajeput, Tea tree of Eucalyptus

Ylang Ylang
Wietolie (met THC) of CBD-olie.
Arnica of Goudsbloem (Calendula) met Kamille.
Munt, Sandelhout, Patchouli,  enz.

De normale verhouding tussen de basisolie en de etherische olie is ongeveer 1 ml etherische olie op 100 ml basis olie, 1% (1 ml is ongeveer 20 druppels).

Lavendelolie: Doe je basisolie in je schoon glaswerk en voeg de etherische olie toe. In het geval van lavendel kan je tot 16% toevoegen (Dit percentage verschilt per etherische olie (zie www.het-theekamp.nl voor specificaties per soort, Lavendel kan eventueel zelfs rechtstreeks aangebracht worden voor een helende werking). 

Even rekenen: Ik wil 50ml massageolie maken. Voor een verhouding van bijvoorbeeld 10% oftewel 1 op 10 doe ik 2,5 ml lavendelolie (50 druppels) bij 47,5 ml. Dop erop, even schudden, klaar!

Tip: per massagebeurt gebruik je 5 à 10 ml. Je kan dus ook eerst een beetje maken. Experimenteer vooral met kleinere hoeveelheden tot je de meest ideale verhouding hebt gevonden voor jou. De restjes olie kan je in een flesje bewaren met sticker (en datum). Als je je massageolie donker en koel bewaart is het een jaar houdbaar.

Aloë Vera - Aloë barbadensis
Omschrijving: Aloë Vera komt uit de tropische en subtropische zones, vooral in Afrika en de Middellandse Zee. De plant is vorstgevoelig, maar kan desondanks goed in de eigen tuin geteeld worden of in de winter in huis worden gehouden.
Eigenschappen: Het is erg veelzijdig en kan op vele manieren gebruikt worden. De olie heeft een positieve uitwerking op je welbevinden, hij werkt rustgevend en kalmerend. Het werkt beschermend en verzachtend voor ieder huidtype. De mentale toepassingen zijn: afrodisiacum, erotiserend, ontspant het centrale zenuwstelsel, stabiliseert stemmingswisselingen, verlichtend bij nerveuze spanning, angst en stress, zenuwkalmerend, zinnenprikkelend.
Gebruik: Men kan ± 40 druppels essentiële olie toevoegen aan 100 ml van deze basis olie voor massage of huidolie. 

Lavendel - Lavandula angustifolia
Omschrijving: Lavendel is een overblijvende struik waarin paarse, violette of blauwe puntige bloemen uit groeien er zijn echter diverse soorten Lavendel met een eigen karakter en therapeutische waarde.
Lavendel heeft frisse, bloemige boven toon en een subtiele kruidige grond toon.
Eigenschappen: Lavendel is qua therapeutische werking een veelzijdige plant en kan worden ingezet voor vele doeleinden en is ontspannend.
Lavendel staat vooral bekend om de opbeurende bloemige geur, maar is tevens een goed zuiverend middel.
Werkt verzachtend, rust gevend en ontspannend (ook voor dieren).
Lavendel mag in tegen stelling tot andere etherische oliën rechtstreeks puur op de gebracht worden. Smeer pure Lavendel olie op een zon verbrande huid, het verzacht en hersteld de huid snel.
Gebruik: Enkele druppels toevoegen aan je basis olie, massage olie of basiscrème.

Cajeput - Melaleuca cajaputi

Omschrijving: Cajaput is een boom die behoort tot de thee bomen. Het is een altijd groene boom met witte bloemen die aan een doorn tak groeien. Uit de geurige bladeren word de etherische olie gewonnen door stoom destillatie. De Cajaput boom groeit o.a. in Australië en Indonesië. Het heeft een frisse, kruidachtige eucalyptus geur.
Eigenschappen: Cajaput heeft een zuiverende en kalmerende werking en kan goed gebruikt worden bij nervositeit. Er kan een allergische reactie optreden daarom word het gebruik bij zwangerschap afgeraden. Cajaput schept helderheid, evenwicht en zekerheid op de geest. Voor lichamelijk gebruik heeft Cajaput de heilzame eigenschappen voor spieren, zenuwen en gewrichten door de verlichtende werking, stimuleert en vitaliseert.
De olie is ook zeer geschikt voor luchtwegen (net als eucalyptus).
Gebruik: Enkele druppels toevoegen aan je basis olie, massage olie of basiscrème.

Ylang Ylang - Una odorantissima
Omschrijving: De wilde Ylang ylang of "bloem de bloemen" is een tropische boom van ongeveer 10-40 meter hoog en komt oorspronkelijk uit Indonesië en de Filippijnen. De gecultiveerde bomen worden door snoeien kleiner gehouden tot struik formaat, zo'n 3-5 meter hoog. De gladde bast is bleekgrijs. De kleine bloemen zijn wit, zacht paars, roze of geel en groeien in trosjes, verscholen achter groene bladeren. De olie wordt gewonnen uit de vers geplukte bloemen door middel van stoomdestillatie. Deze olie heeft een fruitig, exotisch bloemige geur en is gelig van kleur. Vanwege de geur wordt het veel gebruikt in de parfumindustrie, in zepen, lotions en crèmes.

Eigenschappen: Ylang ylang helpt de bloeddruk en hartslag te verlagen. Het brengt de hormonen in evenwicht en is goed tegen stress. Is een uitstekend middel voor de huid en reguleert de talgafscheiding.
Ylang ylang geeft rust en verdrijft koppigheid. Het verlicht uitstekend bij depressie en kwaadheid.
Zuiverend, bloeddruk verlagend, harmoniserend op hormonen, krampstillend, ontspannend, verlichtend, stimulerend de bloedcirculatie, vermindert talgproductie, weerstand verhogend.
Gebruik: Enkele druppels toevoegen aan je basis olie, massage olie of basiscrème.

Massage olie kopen:

Weleda, Kneipp (ca. €8 per 100 ml): 
Arnica Massageolie - Verwarmt en ontspant de spieren (ideaal na het sporten of bij overbelaste spieren en helpt tegen kramp. Zonnebloemolie, olijfolie, extract van arnicabloesem en berkenblad stimuleren de huidfuncties en versoepelen de huid. Natuurlijke etherische oliën van lavendel en rozemarijn voegen een warme en aromatische noot toe. De massageolie is gemakkelijk te verdelen en trekt snel in).

Berken Cellulitis olie - Verstevigt het bindweefsel en maakt de huid glad
Calendula Massageolie - Verwarmt en verzorgt de gevoelige huid
Citrus Verfrissingsolie - Verfrist en stimuleert de huid
Duindoorn Vitaliserende Olie -Verlevendigt en herstelt de huid
Evening Primrose Teunisbloem Olie - Revitaliseert, regenereert en voedt intensief

Havaianas

Vandaag een tweede paar Havaianas® slippers gekocht. Geinspireerd door Japan, ontwikkeld in Brazilië, gedragen over de hele wereld. Het modelabel Havaianas dat is gevestigd in Brazilië staat duidelijk voor comfort, plezier en stijl. De oorsprong van het woord Havaianas komt uit het Portugese "Hawaiians." De ontwerper Sao Paulo Alpargates maakt gebruik van een speciale rubbersamenstelling die zorgt voor comfort, een ultra-lichtgewicht gevoel en huidvriendelijke teensandalen. De sandalen met de Braziliaanse vlag op de band hebben hun wereldwijde populariteit te danken aan de World Cup in 1998. Sindsdien heeft de Havaianas-sandaal het hart veroverd van menig slipperliefhebber.

Belichting

De waarde “EV” heeft dus verschillende betekenissen naargelang de context:

• een absolute waarde (11.5EV, zie foto van de lichtmeter) 
• een relatieve waarde (+1EV, foto “één stop” overbelichten, zie hieronder) 
• een dynamisch bereik (bijvoorbeeld 8EV, zie hierboven) 

Fototoestellen kunnen de helderheid instellen (bewust onder- of overbelichten). Daarbij kan gewerkt worden in stappen van 1/3EV of 1/2EV (een derde of een halve stop). Stappen van 1/2EV worden het vaakst gebruikt omdat er standaard-waarden gebruikt worden (sluitertijden van 1/30, 1/45, 1/60, 1/90, 1/125 enz en openingen van ƒ/2.0, ƒ/2.4, ƒ/2.8, ƒ/3.5, ƒ/4 enz), maar met kleinere stappen kan de belichting nauwkeuriger ingesteld worden.

De nulwaarde (EV=0) komt overeen met een sluitertijd van 1 seconde en een lensopening van ƒ/1 bij ISO 100. Of een sluitertijd van 4 seconden bij ƒ/2. Sommige belichtingsmeters kunnen de gemeten waarde ook in lux weergeven, deze eenheid wordt in de natuurkunde gebruikt.

NOTE:
Als ik de metingen doe met twee verschillende apps:
Pocket Light Meter (EV100) en de Megaman App (Lux) komen de waarden ongeveer overeen met bovenstaande tabel

Als je lichtmeter bijvoorbeeld op 200 ISO staat, moet je gewoon 1 EV aftrekken (gemeten = 8.5 --> effektief 7.5)

• Helderheid in huis: ongeveer 50 lux, 
• helderheid in een kantoor: 500 lux (europese normen), 
• helderheid om in de beste omstandigheden foto's te kunnen nemen: 2500 lux (10EV). 
• Vanaf 15EV (ongeveer 100.000 lux) hebben de modellen het lastig om hun ogen goed open te houden bij portretfotografie. 

Bij het verhogen van de belichtingswaarde stijgt ook het contrast (verschillen tussen donkere en heldere delen van het beeld of dynamisch bereik). Vanaf 15 EV is het contrast meestal zo sterk dat een fototoestel niet meer mee kan. Je zal hulpmiddelen moeten gebruiken om het licht te temperen: werken in de schaduw, zonnetent gebruiken, enz.

Concert Riverside (De Boerderij, Zoetermeer)

The Polish progressive rock band Riverside needs no long introduction. The band was founded in 2001 by Mariusz Duda and is now among the top contemporary prog scene. Riverside is renowned for their unique blend of dynamic rock and beautiful melodies. Their music contains elements reminiscent of Pink Floyd, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Dream Theater, but the band manages to retain its identity. Their latest album 'Shrine Of New Generation Slaves' (2013) is their most successful album until now and let hear the evolution of Riverside. The release of their new (sixth) studio album 'Love, Fear and the Time Machine' is scheduled in early September.

Regenton

Voor het afdakje achterin de tuin (waar de motor onder staat) heb ik een 100mm goot gemonteerd met een afvoerbuis 80mm naar de stoep buiten de poort.
Tussen deze buis heb ik een vulautomaat voor de 185 liter regenton gezet.
De regenton (€50 Voertonnen.nl) heb ik op een 35 cm verhoging staan van grindtegels. In de holle deksel zit een filter voor zand e.d. Het 40mm vulpijpje kan ik in de winter met een dop afsluiten.

pH en EC - meten is weten

Ordered at AliExpress a digital pH meter (€6,07) en TDS meter (€3,41). The button cells (3x for PH meter, 2x for TDS meter) AG13 (12st. €0,90) are separate ordered (12p €0,90).

The PH-meter do I clean afterwards with distilled water and dry the sensor gently with a paper towel.
Calibrate with pH buffer powder pH 4.00 and pH 6.86 (€ 0.64) and measure any manually Litmus paper strips (litmus test for color) 80st. € 0.35.
For the TDS value to convert to EC value in mS / cm, I share the ppm value by a factor of 640:

Parrot Flower Power is a sensor that can be "planted" close to a plant, indoors or outdoors, in a pot or in open ground. It precisely measures, in real time, the parameters that are crucial for the growth and good health of plants:
Soil moisture, fertilizer, ambient temperature, and light intensity.
Plants have vital needs, and Parrot Flower Power uses advanced sensor technologies to monitor the plants' welfare through a range of parameters. Using the data gathered every 15 minutes by the four sensors, users are able to understand the exact requirements of their plants. The materials chosen for manufacturing the Flower Power ensure the product is watertight and robust. The Parrot Flower Power can be used both inside and outside (from -10 °C to 55° C). Waterproof, it can withstand watering, rain, and liquid fertilizer. Put it in the ground or in a pot and monitor the changes in your plants and garden.

Bluetooth, smart and realtime monitoring of multiple plants.
The data retrieved by the Parrot Flower Power is sent to your Smartphone or Tablet using Bluetooth low energy technology, allowing it to communicate with Bluetooth Smart Ready devices. Bluetooth Low Energy is a wireless technological standard which consumes very little energy. When you are near your Flower Power, you can use Live mode to check the light intensity, ambient temperature, and soil humidity. Every 15 minutes Flower Power measures four data sources and stores the data in its memory. Every two hours Flower Power sends data to your Smartphone via Bluetooth Low Energy. If you are not within Bluetooth range, it keeps the data in its memory until you are back within range (data kept for up to 80 days). Alerts are sent to your Smartphone each time one of your plants needs attention. There is no need to be near your Flower Power to get the notifications. A Parrot Flower Power can monitor several plants in the same pot, in a planter or on a small plot of land if the conditions of watering, soil drainage, and exposure to the sun and wind are uniform.

Download the free Parrot Flower Power App on your Smartphone/Tablet. The application will then connect your Flower Power to the Parrot Cloud (via 3G/4G or Wi-Fi), where the data is analyzed. After the data is analyzed, you will receive an alert in real time when one of your plants has special water, fertilizer, light, or temperature needs. Follow the changes in your garden directly or simply consult Parrot's vast but easy to use database. Air Temperature

The range of temperature that is generally comfortable for most plants is between 10-32°C (50-80°F). Various stresses may affect plants outside this range, but it is highly plant specific.

Light

• Range: 0.13 to 104 (mole x m-2 x d-1) 
• Accuracy: +/- 15% 

The light sensor is calibrated to measure Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR), defined as light in the wavelength between 400 - 700nm (the visible spectrum).

Soil Moisture

• Range: 0 to 50 (%) 
• Accuracy: +/-3 

The typical soil moisture range is between 8 (very dry) to 45 (saturated). The soil moisture will read 0 when in air. Generally, most plants require watering when the soil moisture is in the range of 12 to 18. If the soil moisture stays >40 for too long, this may be harmful to some plants (overwatering promotes the growth of pathogens in the soil, and plants require oxygen at their roots for good health). Specific watering and overwatering thresholds depend on the plant type. Due to variations in soil composition, texture, compaction, and other factors, variation of the soil moisture readings can be greater in practice than the accuracy of the sensor suggests. To reduce these variations, always water around the sensor when it is first inserted into the soil to remove air gaps. When container gardening, always use a container with holes at the bottom for good drainage.

Fertilizer

• Range: 0 to 10 (mS/cm) 
• Accuracy: +/-20% 

The typical range for fertilizer in horticultural applications is 0 to 4 mS/cm. Generally, fertilizer >1 is low, fertilizer in the range of 1 - 3 is a good range, above 3 is high, and above 4 may to too high. Fertilizer usage and sensitivity is plant specific. After application of liquid fertilizer based on the manufacturer recommendation for your plant, you should immediately notice on the sensor that fertilizer is in a good range. When using compost or slow-release fertilizers, it can take a longer time for the fertilizer to register on the sensor. Due to uneven distribution of fertilizers in soils, variation on fertilizer readings can be greater in practice than the accuracy of the sensor suggests. To reduce these variations, always water your plant thoroughly -- this gives fertilizer the best chance to evenly distribute throughout the soil.
